Barbara A. Appleby, JD, AIF®
As principal of BerryDunn Wealth Management, Barbara helps her clients navigate the changing circumstances of their lives as well as the financial marketplace. Often, her clients are facing a major life transition, such as retirement, career change, divorce, or the death of a parent or spouse.
Barbara is known for her ability to provide expertise guided by compassion and a genuine desire to meet her clients’ needs at times of change. She also has extensive experience with the unique financial demands facing high-wealth individuals, including wealth transfer and charitable giving.
In addition to offering financial planning, estate planning, and investment management to individuals, Barbara provides investment services for corporate retirement plans. She helps businesses and business owners meet their fiduciary obligations and assist their employees in having a successful retirement.
Prior to BerryDunn, Barbara was president of NorthStar Retirement Strategies. Before that, she practiced law at Drummond Woodsum and served as law clerk to former Chief Justice Wathen of the Maine Supreme Court.
Barbara is chair of the board for FAMA Ministries and is the founder and director of Morninglight Ministries. She has also previously served on the board of The Root Cellar.

Kristin Guibord, MBA, AIF®
Senior Investment Manager
As a senior investment manager, Kristin’s approachable and straightforward style puts clients at ease as they work together to build a plan and navigate a lifetime of financial decision making.
She provides highly personalized, comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services for individuals and families, including evaluations of life and long-term care insurance.
Kristin works closely with clients experiencing major life transitions, such as retirement, the death of a spouse, divorce, and career change. She also advises business clients in the ever-changing 401(k) plan landscape.
Previously, Kristin headed the investment research group at Commonwealth Financial Network®, which provided investment recommendations, portfolio design and construction, and marketing support to 1,000 independent financial professionals throughout the U.S. Before that, she worked as a research analyst for the international equity group at Pioneer Investment Management in Boston.
You might recognize Kristin from her spots as the“News 8 Financial Expert” on Maine's ABC affiliate, WMTW. Kristin served on the Maine Women's Fund, Major Gifts Advisory Board, and Host Committee for the Fund's annual fundraiser and awards luncheon. She resides in Portland with her husband and two sons with whom she enjoys cooking, travel adventures, and doing just about anything outdoors.

As a Senior Manager at BerryDunn Wealth Management, Kathy’s responsibilities include providing top-notch service to clients on matters related to financial planning, investments, and insurance. She also works with employers and fiduciaries of retirement plans to help them evaluate their plan, understand the scope of their fiduciary responsibilities, and keep their organization’s plan on course. In addition, Kathy serves as compliance coordinator, ensuring that BerryDunn Wealth Management complies with the ever-evolving regulatory structure.
Kathy began her career working for MDS Bankmark, a third-party marketing firm and fully licensed broker/dealer, where she worked with senior bank executives to implement the operational and service needs required for each bank’s investment program. She then joined NorthStar Retirement Strategies, which later became BerryDunn Wealth Management.
Kathy and her husband lived aboard their 40-foot sailboat in Portland Harbor for several years. In May 2014, after 17 years at BerryDunn Wealth Management, Kathy left to pursue a lifelong dream she and her husband had to take an extended cruise on their sailboat. Their sailing adventures took them up to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, down the east coast of the United States, across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas, and eventually back to their homeport, Portland, Maine.
In April 2016, Kathy and her husband became landlubbers once again. They sold their boat to build their dream house and become “gentlemen farmers,” on property they purchased in New Gloucester, Maine.
After spending a year in the employment of another financial advisory practice, Kathy re-joined the BerryDunn Wealth Management team in January 2017.

Donna Buyze, MBA, CIMA®
Senior Manager of Investment and Insurance Services
As Senior Manager of investment and insurance services, Donna reviews clients' investments and portfolios, assists in preparing clients’ financial and retirement plans, and helps clients navigate the insurance application and approval process. Donna also provides the team with investment research and analysis.
Prior to joining BerryDunn, Donna worked for both Forum Financial and Citigroup in mutual fund accounting and shareholder services. She was responsible for the operational aspects of transaction processing, recordkeeping, and reporting of information while verifying adherence to funds’ prospectuses and compliance requirements. Before Citigroup, she worked for almost 16 years as marketing manager at Emery Waterhouse, a hardware and building materials distributor.
She and her husband enjoy running, hiking, and cross-country skiing in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.
Donna holds her FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®, member FINRA/SIPC, and is fully licensed for life, long-term care, and disability insurance. She also holds the CIMA® (Certified Investment Manager Analyst®) designation and is a member of the Investments & Wealth Institute (formerly the Investment Management Consultants Association).
